Just wanted to share by delight with you regarding the Steering Rack balloon sculpture I made for a client earlier this month. I have received a lovely email explaining how delighted the birthday boy was with the design and his son (who is also a mechanic) described the sculpture as "MINT"! Love it! 
I look forward to seeing them all next year for the next family occasion! 

OK, Here it is. First is the picture I was sent from my client and as I am sure you can differentiate, I am holding the sculpture stood by my van.

I am delighted to say my client was over the moon and that makes me a very happy person!
The sculpture was made using non round balloons (Q's) and measured just under 6ft long! Initial design involved deciding on how each element needed to be to scale then up scaling the rest of the sculpture on from the smallest element. As the Q's are stepping up in inch widths it does limit the size this could have gone up to however, it worked out perfectly remembering that anything made from balloons will only ever be a characterisation of the item/s. Fun eh!

Every once in a while, I get an unusual request to design something bespoke. This is always an exciting time and needs alot of thought. To create a design from scratch takes alot of thought and practice. From initial enquiry, I was provided with an image file of the item and instantly see the object break down into sections, this comes with practice & is essential when there is no recipe to work from. 
Second plan of action is to establish how big or small the sculpture needs to be, this is the point where you decide if it is feasible to drop or up scale. 
Next plan of action is to make a note of the materials needed allowing for plenty of spares. I did at this point put a 'shout' to my industry forum just to see if any veteran twisters/modellers could suggest techniques for joints etc.
All seemed the same as I had planned, which was comforting! 
It's always good to ensure your clients knows what to expect as with balloons, the design will be 'characterised' or cartooni
Time involved in planning, designing & finally building a sculpture can go into 10's of hours so plan in advance, these things are not just thrown together in 10 minutes!!
Finally finished this project now and really pleased with it as it was an odd one. Once it has been delivered, I will post photo's for you to see. 

Hello! Bet you thought I had forgot about our Blog? Well, We have just been so busy & I mean 9, 14 hour days!! Bonkers Month of March has finally passed. We decorated an very large store which was a logistic operation in itself. However, client feedback was as lovely as usual which is our priority. Not only did I do that, I also designed and built an Olympic ring display which measured approximately 8ft wide by 5ft tall and used over 700 balloons!
