Local Academy Q3 have approached Melissa in the hope to build her 'talks' into the school curriculum. Academy executive's have decided the students benefited so well from my visits this year that they have offered me a repeat performance on a little more formal basis" Melissa explains. "Business and design students are eager to speak to local business owners for real and honest information and our press conference this year was immense fun aswel as been put through my paces with a quick fire questions & answers session after!" Congraulations to Bella MacAdams of Q3 Academy. The winner of Blissful Balloons logo competition & the new owner of a MP4 Player. A busy morning saw Bella & Melissa Johnson doing photo shoots & interviews for local press. Melissa announced the winner in morning assembly & completly shocked Bella who didn't think she would win. Both appeared in The Birmingham Mail & Great Barr Observer newpapers. Melissa will now get to work on implementing the design into business clothing & marketing material for all to see.
Wednesday 10th March see's the announcement of Q3 Academy competition winner! During morning assembly, Owner, Melissa Johnson is going to make the announcement and present the winner with their well deserved prize.

Recently, Melissa commented on the competition results. "I have loved every minute I have spent with the students, they are a real credit to the school and of course parents. The design entries were unique and there are such positive attitudes." She added "The school is on the cusp of a major move into a new multi million pound building which can only bring more opportunity with state of the art facilities. I wish them the best of luck!
There is a real buzz around the place, I have loved seeing into the future and hope to work closely with the school again soon" The Competition winner's name will be on here next week.
Blissful Balloons were delighted to decorate the stage and set the theme for a prestigious annual 'BOBS' awards dinner dance at Birmingham's International Convention Centre recently. Well, the competition is well & truly on! Q3 Academy are full steam ahead with a fantastic competition run by Melissa Johnson! Design & art students are working hard designing the companies new logo. Over the next four weeks, students are putting their skills to the test and the winning design will launch Blissful Balloons 'new high profile look' for 2010. Melissa Johnson has recently been teaching various classes how to market, sell and promote and just last week was in a mock press conference with students and it seems the lesson was a total success! Melissa Johnson commented "I was totally amazed just how articulate the year 9 students are and it's so promising to see how much school has improved, I will be meeting year 11 students next week to give a lecture on business and commerce & already wonder if they will be quizzing me and putting me on the spot!?"

Melissa Johnson is very excited to have been asked to take part in lessons with year 9 students who are currently studying 'Business marketing & design'. Melissa has many years experience at seminar's and presentations and also used to sing in band so what does she think the students will make of her and how will she approach this different audience?
"I'm so excited to have been asked as a local business & also an ex-pupil of the school, to give the
students the chance to hear how I built and promote my own business whilst developing strong local relationships with council's, business centre's, suppliers and of course my local community, this will be a totally different audience than before, the students have been asked to research my company as part of their course work so I know they will have worked hard. I intend to make it very lively & fun with some hand's on involvement. School is a much different place now to when I was a pupil
and I am pleased to support in anyway I can. Education is priority for my son so I'm always willing to
help other children to realise how important learning is." Melissa also let us in on a small secret... "without giving too much away, I have a very exciting project coming up with the school, so watch this space!" Melissa has already got interest from ITV Central News again who are very keen to cover her announcment so we look forward to finding out??
After an amazing day with friends and associates at the WISE event on Monday 21st September, Blissful Balloons were featured on ITV Central News. This was a fantastic opportunity for Melissa Johnson, Owner and manager of the company to get into thousands of homes at broadcasting prime time. Becky Johnson, journalist and reporter spent time with Melissa and Sky news presenter, Marverine Cole at the event. Melissa commented 'I always love been asked to take part in such well organised events, however, the WISE event was the best so far!', when asked how the recession has affected business, Melissa bursting with enthusiasm responded 'Yes, it's a tough time for us all, but no-one denies themself a family get together or wedding day to remember and I'm delighted

On 17th September, Melissa Johnson visited a Women's networking meeting to deliver a presentation on her business and talk about the mechanics of being self employed. The group were a mixture of businesses in the making and established sole traders who were all inspirational to each other and a joy to meet. "Showcase opportunities like these are valuable to me as a developing business women, we always come away with new contacts, friends and full of beans!" commented Melissa. Blissful Balloons have been being filmed as part of a small production to be podcast and also shown in Big Screen format at the Women In Sandwell event later next month. The short documentary will highlight the hard work and dedication channelled continually into running a business aswel as the power of networking and the opportunities it opens up. We will be showing ourselves 'hands on' at a local venue in West Bromwich preparing for a wedding that takes place just days after. Interviewed by Sky presenter Marverine Cole. Blissful Balloons exhibited in Oldbury Square (outside Council House, by Sainsbury's) on July 8th 10am-4pm. All were welcome and some superb contacts were made. We met new businesses aswel as caught up with others we regularly see. We have been asked back to take part in Christmas festivities this year aswel as provide the balloon decor again this year! Thanks guys!

Apprentise contestant, Jo Cameron and many others to promote the importance of small businesses in Sandwell & The Black Country. "The Public Art Gallery is a very important client of ours" Melissa comments, "having amazing facilities and superb staff who know me well and are always helpful and friendly". Melissa is part of a Women's business enterprise scheme and regularly attends network meetings working hard to discuss idea's with other local self employed women also on their way to success. Together with her friends in media and broadcasting, they empower each other to increase their business and grow stronger staying positive despite the economic climate.

Q3 are a local high School academy for children in Great Barr. We were asked to exhibit at 2009 Prom Fayre. Displaying our balloon sculpting and design skills, printed keepsakes, gifts, novelty inflatable champagne bottle with bubbles (also available 6ft tall!)
Above shows our small exhibition stand at the Council Chambers in Sandwell. We were approached to raise staff's awareness of local suppliers & businesses which was a fabulous chance to meet hundreds of new people and show them what we do. We made new contacts (or friends as we like to call them) and have since supplied decor for weddings and birthday celebrations aswel as printed T-shirts for a corporate event! Keeping us busy, thanks everyone!
PRODUCT INFORMATION UPDATE 40" Foil alphabet letters. We have had several meetings with our suppliers who have in turn spoke to the manufacturer of these products. We have been advised these products are prone to bursting and that room conditions can be a major problem resulting in bursting. Air conditioning causing these balloons to move around can cause friction which in turn creates static, as these products are foil (myler) which conducts electricity, static shocks burst the balloons. If the decorator has inflated these balloons on site during the day and the pressure in the room increases due to heating over the evening, the balloons will expand putting more pressure onto the seams. Any balloon is sensitive to temperature.
